The President Welcomes Loved Ones of Injured Military Members to the White House
Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.
He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Tragic Incident
US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.
Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.
White House Call
The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president informed the press. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”
Community Reaction
Attendees assembled over the weekend at a local school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to aid policing efforts in Washington DC.
Paying Tribute to the Soldier
“She was the individual that teachers wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her alma mater, informed the press. “She was caring, considerate and always eager to assist people.”
Funeral arrangements for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Legal Measures and Government Adjustments
Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy prompted the administration to suspend asylum applications and halt granting visas to possessors of Afghan passports.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the Associated Press.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader the governor stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on the program that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Impact of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with honor, per the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” he told the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
