Six Suspects Apprehended Following €12 Million Armed Raid on Gold Refining Lab in the French Republic

A group of six individuals equipped with high-powered firearms employed explosives to break into a precious metals processing plant located in Lyon, France, resulting in minor injuries to five employees during what appears to be the most recent prominent daytime heist to hit the nation.

The bold operation occurred on Thursday late morning, with officers quickly arresting the individuals believed responsible and retrieving the loot estimated to be worth €12M (£10.5 million), according to officials.

Five workers of the precious metals facility received light wounds as a result of the detonation, and three employees required hospital checks for evaluation, officials confirmed. Twenty-eight employees were present on-site when the robbers attacked.

The suspects, believed to be seasoned offenders, were taken into custody shortly after the incident in the adjacent municipality of Vénissieux, France, a source close to the investigation stated.

A female accomplice involved in the robbery was taken into custody as well, a police source indicated.

“Six individuals who employed explosive devices in a raid against a gold refining facility in Lyon were arrested at the scene,” France's security official stated online, praising officers for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were also confiscated.

The heist took place as law enforcement in France on Thursday arrested five more suspects, among them a key figure, in connection with the recent audacious raid on the Louvre museum.

Numerous detectives have been hunting four robbers who used a vehicle equipped with a moving lift and cutting equipment to breach a first-floor gallery at the prestigious institution on the nineteenth of October, fleeing with jewelry valued at approximately 88 million euros.

In a different significant robbery, burglars recently forced their way into the French capital's Natural History Museum, taking gold specimens valued at more than one million dollars. A 24-year-old Chinese woman was taken into custody recently in the city of Barcelona in regarding the theft, prosecutors stated.

This series of robberies has raised concerns in the country regarding lax security at museums and other institutions containing precious artifacts.
