The detonation took place as police and firefighters entered the house near the Verona region to carry out an removal notice for three siblings aged in their 50s and 60s.
Each of the three deceased individuals were members of the Carabinieri force.

The blast could be noticed as far as 3 miles distant and footage from the location displayed the structure left as a pile of rubble.
“This is a time for grieving,” stated the Minister of the Interior Minister Piantedosi, who mentioned that previous tries had been made to remove the three family members in the previous occasions.
Background and Motive
The leader of the region of Veneto, Luca Zaia, stated the farmhouse was under an removal notice due to financial obligations accumulated by the three owners.
Conflict resolution experts had been sent to talk with the siblings who had locked themselves into the property. When the police came shortly after 03:00 (01:00 GMT), investigators believe a family member caused the blast.
“When we entered the property, we faced an utterly insane act,” regional commander Claudio Papagno informed news outlets.
A gas canister had been ignited, and the blast precisely impacted our personnel,” he added.
Petrol bombs were also found at the residence, the minister said.
Casualties and Damage
The wounded by the explosion comprised 11 other members of the Carabinieri as well as a trio of personnel of Italy's state police and a fire services member.
According to the local prosecutor, the property was in a dilapidated shape and had no electricity.
The official thought the detonation had taken place on a floor above the access point and stated to journalists it was a “deliberate and pre-planned murder”. Moments before the blast, he mentioned personnel had “detected a whistling noise, likely the gas cylinders being activated”.
Neighbor Statements
“Everyone was aware the circumstances were severe,” local residents informed reporters, noting that the trio had in the past stated to “cause an explosion” rather than vacate the property.
“The explosion had left a ‘terrible, very painful and dramatic toll’.”
Minister of Defence Minister Crosetto stood alongside other government officials in commemorating the trio of personnel who had lost their lives in the performance of their duties.
