American-Palestinian Teenager Liberated After 270 Days in Israeli Custody

A Palestinian-American youth who spent 270 days in Israeli detention absent formal charges was released.

Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old when he was arrested this past winter within the occupied West Bank, during a family visit from his Florida home under suspicion of rock throwing at Jewish settlers, claims he consistently denied.

American diplomatic officials said it welcomed the teenager's freedom.

Mohammed, now 16, required hospitalization for treatment immediately after release, relatives told the media.

According to them, he appears pale, underweight, and is suffering from conditions developed during imprisonment.

Via family representatives, Mohammed's uncle expressed the family's "overwhelming sense of relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Right now, our priority is getting Mohammed prompt healthcare he needs following exposure to Israel's abuse and brutal treatment over several months."

The state department stated they would maintain to provide consular support for the Ibrahim family.

{"American leadership gives utmost importance to the protection and welfare for United States citizens"," it added.

Several congressional representatives had signed a letter to diplomatic officials and the administration, requesting additional efforts for his freedom.

Mohammed's parent, a father-of-four operating an ice cream shop in Florida, had earlier stated his child admitted guilt regarding stone throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.

The father hadn't visited nor direct contact following the detention, learning information solely what had happened to him in detention through court documents.

The teenager remained lacking indictment at Ofer detention facility in the West Bank.

Additionally housing grown detainees, featuring prisoners sentenced of serious terrorism offences and homicide.

Approximately several hundred young Palestinian detainees detained within Israeli facilities, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Several lack formal charges while advocacy organizations, including UN bodies, say some have suffered mistreatment and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, Mr Kadur said they would maintain their efforts seeking justice for their relative Sayfollah Musallet.

The dual national youth according to health authorities was beaten to death by Israeli settlers following tensions last July.

During that period, military authorities reported officials were investigating accounts of a Palestinian was deceased.

Both young men were employed together in the family ice cream shop based in Florida.

No one has been charged for the cousin's murder.

"We demand United States leadership to protect our families," family representatives emphasized.
